My Lenovo X230 has the following network adapter:

00:19.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Intel Corporation 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection [8086:1502] (rev 04)

the support for which should be added to e1k driver.

Unlike the presently supported E1000 variants, this one, integrated on Intel 6 series chipsets, does not use an EERD (EEPROM Read) register to read the NVM, but an SPI programming interface.

My Lenovo X230 died so I am non longer able to test this network adapter.
